The difference

A real class, not a video.

Most online yoga now means an app, a library of videos, or a recording you press play on, alone. This isn't that. Every class is live and two-way, on Google Meet — Shambhavi is teaching in real time, and she can see you. If you'd like the fuller picture of how a class actually runs, read how I practice.

she can see you

Corrected in the moment

Live, on video, she watches the room and adjusts what she's asking for — a cue for your knee, a note for your breath — the way she would in the same room. A recording can't look back at you.

the same teacher

Every session, one teacher

Not a rotating library of instructors. The same person, class after class, who starts to know your body — what to hold back on, what you're ready for next.

a small group

Twelve to fifteen people, not a broadcast

Small enough that she knows your name and remembers where you were last week. Nobody here is one face in a grid of hundreds.

The schedule

Three live classes a week.

You pick the window that fits your life — morning or evening, the same monthly rate either way.

Taught from Pune, on Indian Standard Time. The morning class falls roughly early-morning in the Gulf and late-evening in the US; the evening class falls roughly afternoon across Europe and the UK, and mid-morning on the US East Coast. Write and ask if you're unsure your time zone works.

the days

Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Three live classes a week — roughly twelve sessions a month. Not five days, not a constant stream. Steady, and sustainable.

morning

7:30 – 8:45 AM IST

Seventy-five minutes, live. A fuller class, with more time to settle in at the start and rest at the close.

evening

6:00 – 7:00 PM IST

Sixty minutes, live, at the end of the day. The same practice, held to a shorter frame.

either window

One membership, one seat to choose

You commit to a window when you join, so the group stays small and steady — but if your week changes, write and we'll see what fits.

The class itself

What a class is, start to close.

Traditional, anatomy-led practice — asana, pranayama, and a closing rest. Nothing that resembles a workout class.

we arrive

Settling in

Video on, a few quiet minutes on the mat before we begin — arriving in the body, not just logging on.

we move and breathe

Asana and pranayama

Anatomy-led movement and breath work, paced to the room. She teaches to what's actually here, with an alternative offered wherever a pose doesn't suit your body that day.

we close

Rest — Yoga Nidra or stillness

The class ends in rest, not a rush back to your day. Some days that's Yoga Nidra, some days simple, unhurried stillness.

Who this suits

Who this is for.

new to yoga

Complete beginners are welcome

You don't need flexibility or experience to start. She teaches to the room and offers alternatives — you'll be met where you actually are.

steady rhythm

People who want a fixed time in the week

A class on the calendar, at the same hours, three times a week — the accountability of a standing appointment rather than a video you might never open.

tradition, not a workout

People who want practice, not fitness

This is Hatha yoga, taught for the whole system — asana, breath, stillness — not a workout borrowing yoga's name.

One honest note: if your practice needs to be built entirely around one body — an old injury, a condition that needs close watching — a group of twelve to fifteen isn't the right shape for that. The private one-to-one class is built only around you, online or, if you're in the city, in person in Pune.

Who teaches you

Shambhavi. Bihar School of Yoga.

Shambhavi trained in the Bihar School of Yoga lineage and holds an M.Sc. in Yoga Science. She has taught for around fifteen years, and teaches live from Pune, India, to a small group of students across the country and abroad. More about her and the tradition she teaches in →. She also writes about the practice in the journal.

Common questions

Before you begin.

A few things people ask before their first class.

live

Is it live, or a recording?

Live. Every class runs in real time on Google Meet, with two-way video — Shambhavi can see you, and you can ask a question mid-class. Nothing is prerecorded.

beginners

I've never done yoga. Is that a problem?

No. Most people who join have little or no experience. She teaches to the room and offers an alternative for anything your body isn't ready for yet.

outside india

Can I join from outside India?

Yes. The class is taught from Pune, on Indian Standard Time. The morning window tends to suit the Gulf and parts of Asia; the evening window tends to suit Europe and the UK. Write first if you'd like to check your time zone before you commit.

Outside India, the price on this page is already shown in your own currency — pounds, euros or US dollars — and paid by card.

what you need

What do I need to join?

A mat, a little clear floor space, a phone or laptop with a camera, and a steady internet connection. No equipment, no studio.

missed class

What if I miss a class?

Life happens. Write and let her know — twelve sessions a month gives you room, and missing an occasional class won't set you back.

group size

How big is the group?

Twelve to fifteen people. Large enough to feel like a class, small enough that she still knows who you are.

try first

Can I try before I pay?

Yes — that's what the free demo class is for. It's online, by request, with no fixed schedule and no cost. Ask for a demo class and see how it feels before you commit to anything.

health

I have an injury, a condition, or I'm pregnant — can I still join?

Tell her before you begin. Yoga may support a body that's healing or managing a condition, but it isn't a substitute for medical care and it doesn't promise a cure. Mention anything current to your health, and speak with your doctor if you're at all unsure.
